LBGTI Rights and Schools- Perspective from Schools in Delhi

Students of Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar launched an award-winning LGBTQI Awareness, Sensitization and Rights Campaign called Breaking Barriers in April 2013. They impart information about people with alternative genders and sexualities; create empathy, understanding and tolerance; and champion equality in rights for all.

25 dedicated peer educators from Classes 10-12 conduct workshops on LGBTQI issues. They have received rigorous training by CREA, a well reputed international gender rights organization. The Naz Foundation has also supported and endorsed the campaign.

The Breaking Barriers team received media recognition when they were the only students present at the Delhi Queer Pride Parade and at the protest against the reinstatement of Section 377 of the India Penal Code. Protest Workshop
